Michael, who has just made Drag Race history by winning the global competition hosted by Michelle Visage, will swap the runway for the stage, taking on the wicked role of Carabosse in this year’s family pantomime from Wednesday 2 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027.
The North East-born performer captivated audiences throughout the series, defeating Australian fan favourite Art Simone in the grand final to become the first ever Queen of the World champion. The victory marks another remarkable milestone in Michael’s career, having previously reached the final of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 5 before taking their talents to the international stage.
Now, hot on the heels of their biggest achievement yet, Michael is set to bring their trademark wit, larger-than-life personality and villainous flair to Billingham audiences.
Michael Marouli said:
“Winning Drag Race Down Under vs The World has been an absolute dream come true. To celebrate that achievement and then return home to perform for audiences in the North East this Christmas makes it even more special. I can’t wait to bring Carabosse to life in Sleeping Beauty. She’s fabulous, fierce and just a little bit wicked, which sounds right up my street!”
News of Michael Marouli’s recent global competition win has added to the excitement surrounding the Forum Theatre’s festive production, which promises spectacular costumes, laugh-out-loud comedy, magical special effects and plenty of pantomime fun for all ages.
Tickets for Sleeping Beauty are on sale now, with strong demand expected following Michael’s historic Drag Race win.
